Alessandro Florenzi is the latest footballer investigated by Turin’s DA office for illegal gambling. Their findings previously led to Nicolò Fagioli and Sandro Tonali’s plea bargains. Instead, Nicolò Zaniolo talked with the investigators but not with the sports authorities yet. He reportedly didn’t bet on his sport.

Per La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Milan fullback is being probed for unauthorized practice of betting and gambling activity, the same felony as the other players. The inquiry has continued quietly in the past month, with no new revelations.

The Rossoneri have decided not to comment officially on Florenzi yet. It’s unclear at this stage how the detectives got his name, whether from the interrogations or from what was on the cellphones of those who confessed. They’ll hear from him shortly.

The veteran has played 13 times this season, starting on 5 occasions. Federal prosecutor Giuseppe Chinè has been informed. However, ordinary justice has the priority since that’s where the evidence comes from.

Florenzi would be in trouble only if he bet on matches organized by UEFA, FIFA, and FIGC, which was the case for Tonali and Fagioli. They were suspended for seven and ten months respectively. Instead, the FA didn’t open a file on Zaniolo, as his activity was limited to blackjack and pocket, at least according to current information. The matter won’t be dragged on long considering past events.
