Volkanovski Wants The BMF Champion Holloway In A Fourth Fight
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Alexander Volkanovski is willing to fight Max Holloway for a fourth time.

The Australian is coming off consecutive losses. He was stopped by Islam Makhachev at UFC 294 last October in their lightweight rematch. That was followed up by another stoppage loss to Ilia Topuria, ending his four-year reign as the UFC Featherweight Champion. Volk has been linked with Topuria, but nothing has been agreed upon so far. The Holloway fight could present an alternative.

Blessed is coming off his biggest win, stopping Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 to win the BMF Title. It was an enthralling end to a fight where Holloway ended it with a second left. Volkanovski and Holloway have fought each other three times at UFC 254, UFC 251 and UFC 276. The Australian won all three fights. All of them went the distance, showing Holloway can hold his own. Volkanovski wants to run things back, provided it is for the BMF Belt.

Volkanovski On Holloway

“Would I fight him (Holloway)? I mean, now that he’s got a BMF we might have to do this, you know what I mean? I was always sitting there like, ‘How could you do it?’ But maybe there is that something there, there’s a BMF now. For me, it’s 3-0, how can you get yourself out of bed for that? A BMF is something I haven’t touched before, so maybe we can do that, you know? So we’ll see what happens,” Volkanovski said

Nevertheless, there are several obstacles along the way. Holloway is keen on facing Topuria and called him out after the Gaethje win. The featherweight champion responded, saying he was willing to fight only for the BMF belt. That leaves him and Volkanovski as two possible candidates.

“I never turned down the rematch with Alex [Volkanovski] as the UFC has never offered me this fight. As I’ve said many times before, I will be the first to knockout Holloway. Let’s keep this simple: Do you want to fight? If the answer is yes, there’s nothing more to discuss. Bring my belt and your pillow,” Topuria revealed

Holloway vs Topuria

Holloway, however, hit back at Topuria. He felt the champion’s comments were not in the spirit of the BMF belt. Blessed claimed a real BMF should fight whoever, regardless of what was on the line. It is, therefore, a question of which fight generates the most money. But Volkanovski and Holloway have accused Topuria of ducking.

“Bro you’re the one making this hard,” Holloway tweeted in response. Ennnnooouuggghhhh already lol. I’ll ‘bring your belt’…all you are doing is putting words together now. You’re spiraling,” Holloway replied.

“Right now he’s saying no to everyone. That’s the problem. He’s saying no to Max Holloway, to Brian Ortega, to me, you name it. Not wanting to come to Australia, OK, but he’s saying no to everyone. He’s saying, ‘I don’t want to fight any of the contenders,” Volkanovski stated
